WEEK OF PRAYER AND FASTING 2025 - DAY 2

Read 2 Corinthians 4:3-6

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness’, has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ’.

COMMENT: This passage teaches us three important truths: (1) Jesus is glorious. (2) Many are blind to his glory. (3) God shines a light to reveal the glory of Jesus.

There are many examples of this happening throughout the book of Acts such as with the Apostle Paul who was was radically transformed when Jesus showed up and called him to stop persecuting his people. We could also look at Lydia who in Acts 16 had her heart opened by the Lord to pay attention to what was said by Paul. If God did this in the time of the early Church, then he can certainly do it today - and we need him to do it today.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Give thanks to the Lord for your personal salvation and the way that God has called you to himself.

2. Give thanks to the Lord for the way that our church has been growing numerically and spiritually over the last few years. This is the work of the Holy Spirit.

3. Call upon the name of the Lord, ask that he might open the hearts of people in our town to the Gospel.

4. Ask God to pour out his Holy Spirit to help us as a Church take advantage of every opportunity to proclaim and share not ourselves but ‘Jesus Christ as Lord’.

5. Ask the Lord to use you in the advance of his Kingdom, ask that he would give you a supernatural boldness and courage to share the hope that you have.
