WEEK OF PRAYER AND FASTING 2025 - DAY 6

Read Psalm 105:1-5

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
    make known his deeds among the peoples!
Sing to him, sing praises to him;
    tell of all his wondrous works!
Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
Seek the Lord and his strength;
    seek his presence continually!
Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
    his miracles, and the judgments he uttered’

COMMENT: For the final devotion this week we are going to reflect upon our vision verse for the year.

Again, we can see that there are three calls to action: (1) cultivate gratitude, (2) prayerfully depend upon the Lord and (3) share the goodness of what God has done with everyone you can.

The works of the Lord are wondrous and many. As Paul says in Ephesians 1 he has lavished the riches of his grace upon us, and so, it is right to give him thanks and praise.

We’re also called to actively remember and pay attention to what God has done. It can be all too easy to sleepwalk through life but time and again the scriptures call us to wake up, to behold, to stay watchful.

And what a wonderful invitation there is to seek the Lord and his strength, to seek his presence continually. God has done so much for us, but he always has more to give out of his infinite resources, and there is always more that he stands ready to do, if we would seek him and turn from our foolish self-sufficiency.

As we look forwards to the rest of this year, it is essential that we cultivate a culture of joyful worship, dependent prayer, and a readiness to share and testify to what the Lord has done for us.

-

Once more, we’d love to invite you to join with us for a time of breaking the fast through food, prayer and praise at 12PM on Saturday at the Church.

Please let Richard know if you are planning to come along.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Ask the Lord to help us as a community prioritise seeking him and his strength above all else - such that we would experience regular glimpses of his beauty and glory and power.

2. Ask the Lord to reveal and break the power of any idols or distractions in your life. Ask the Lord to help you see the overwhelmingly superior satisfaction or joy that can only be found in knowing the Lord Jesus Christ.

3. Ask the Lord to help us tell others how wonderful he is as we intentionally take the time to meditate upon and remember his goodness.

4. Ask the Lord to cultivate a culture of worship, prayer and testimony amongst us in the year ahead.

5. Ask the Lord to continue to provide for our Church family as we look to the future - ask him to provide vision, willing volunteers and financial resources for the advance of the Kingdom.
